The bright colorful blankets have undoubtedly seen in Mexican restaurants or shopping districts of the tourist cities Mexico's call Serape blankets (Sarape sometimes spelled), but are comonly known as Mexican blankets .

They are as old as time itself, but like everything in this world, what's old is new again. These blankets have seen a resurgence in recent years and are now popping up everywhere. Once used by the poor Indians of Mexico to keep warm in the cold desert nights or to keep out the sun in the heat of the day the blanket is now known worldwide as a symbol of Mexico and its colorful culture.

Demand for these blankets has forced families to devote more time to this art.
