To all you color experts out there. How do I chose the right paint color for a room

I have painted probably every room in the house at least two times because when I finish a project, I don't like it. I have spent soooo much money on paint. My style is, well, I'm not sure. Probably Spanish. I like dark wood furniture, wrought iron, leather...I also like simplicity...less is more. After it is all said and done, everything is so dark The floor in the living room is dark wood with a light beige sofa and oriental rug with browns and beiges. The walls are also a beige (dark). Everything is so monochromatic in this room. There is a wall that goes from the front door to the back of the house (single story) and passes by the open living room that I mentioned above. This wall is a bright golden yellow. I looks aweful with the dark beigy, tannish, orangy walls in the living room. How do you chose colors to compliment one another without having too much of a color wheel going on.

The golden yellow would certainly seem better as a mustard yellow in my opinion. I would do a red, a nice deep red in the living room. I LOVE reds as well as a dark orange. Make sure it is dark or else it won't fit in with your color scheme. I think that since you like the Spanish look, beige definitely needs to go! Maybe even a dark plum color would work for you too!
